Can you engrave an item I bring to you?

In many cases, yes. Customer-provided items such as brass, metal plates, wood boards, and select keepsake pieces can often be engraved, provided they are suitable for the process. Each item is evaluated before work begins to ensure a quality result. If you’re unsure whether an item will engrave well, we’re happy to talk it through before you purchase or bring something in.

Do you engrave insulated drinkware?

This is one of our most Frequently Asked Questions. Engraving on insulated drinkware is offered exclusively on Polar Camel® products supplied by our shop. This ensures consistent engraving results, reliable performance, and proper handling of coated and insulated surfaces. We do not engrave customer-provided insulated drinkware at this time. If you’re unsure which Polar Camel style is right for your needs, we’re happy to help you choose.

Are all of your products available in the online shop?

No. The online shop includes a selection of popular and staple items, but it does not reflect everything we offer. Many pieces are custom-made or tailored to individual requests and are best discussed directly. If you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for online, please reach out — chances are, we can help.

Do you have a storefront I can visit?

Yes. Brown Dog Originals operates from a working engraving shop at 13 Birds Way in North Waterboro, Maine. Customers are welcome to stop in during shop hours to view samples, discuss projects, or pick up completed orders. A small selection of giftable wares is available in the shop. Inventory is limited, as the primary focus is custom work but customers are often able to find something special when they visit.

Do you ship orders?

Yes. We ship throughout the United States and take care to pack items — including fragile pieces — so they arrive safely. Most orders ship via our preferred shipper, UPS. Shipping costs are based on size and destination and are discussed at the time of purchase.

How long will my order take?

Most custom orders are completed within one to two weeks, depending on the project and material availability. Turnaround times are confirmed when your order is placed. During busy seasons, including holidays, lead times may be longer. Ordering early is always recommended when timing is important. We often can work within your required date with planning.

Do you offer rush orders?

Rush service is not guaranteed and depends on current workload. If you have a specific deadline, please contact us before placing your order so we can discuss availability. A rush fee may apply.

Do you require payment in advance?

Yes. Payment is required at the time an order is placed for all custom and personalized work. We accept cash in the shop or can send you and invoice to pay online.

Do you accept returns?

Because most work is custom and personalized, returns and exchanges are not accepted. Please review all proofs and details carefully before approving your order. If an item arrives with a defect or an error on our part, we will make it right. Any issues should be reported promptly.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash and major credit cards. Invoices can be sent via email for online payments.

Do you offer wholesale?

Yes! We work with approved retail partners offering wholesale on some of our most popular original art wares. Wholesale pricing, order minimums, and lead times are shared upon request.
