Custom Engraving Services

Brown Dog Originals offers custom engraving services on both customer-provided items and pieces sourced through the shop. Work is completed entirely in-house using professional rotary engraving, laser engraving, and fine sand etching equipment — three distinct processes that allow us to match the right technique to each material and project. We have samples of engraved materials and finished pieces so customers can see and feel the difference between techniques and surfaces before committing to a project.

We regularly engrave on glass, brass, stainless steel, aluminum, wood, acrylic, and coated surfaces. Our customers include individuals looking for a meaningful personalized gift, businesses and organizations needing branded or recognition pieces, municipalities commissioning plaques and awards, and couples planning wedding keepsakes. Whatever the occasion, the goal is always the same — a clean, precise result that holds up beautifully over time.

We can work from text you provide, a logo or design file, or help develop a simple layout if you’re starting from scratch. Vector files are ideal, but we’re happy to discuss options if you’re unsure what you have.

Before any project begins, we review material type, layout, and intended use to ensure the right approach. If you’re unsure whether an item will engrave well, we’re happy to evaluate it before you commit. Pricing, timing, and design considerations are discussed up front so there are no surprises.

Most orders are completed within one to two weeks, though more involved projects or busy seasons like the holidays may require additional time. Customers are welcome to stop by during shop hours to drop off an item, review samples, or talk through a project in person.

Plaques, Trophies & Awards

Plaques, trophies, and awards are a regular part of the shop’s engraving work. These projects often mark milestones, recognize achievement, or commemorate meaningful moments.

Some customers arrive with a clear idea of what they need, while others are looking for guidance on layout, materials, and size. Samples are available in the shop, and care is taken to help select options that feel appropriate for the occasion and work within the intended budget. Because plaques, trophies, and recognition pieces vary widely, pricing is best discussed directly. We have a samples of completed plaques in the shop and catalogs of available components to help you pick the right style.

Custom Engraving

Custom engraving services covers a wide range of projects including branded pieces, municipal and civic items, and personalized keepsakes.

Common custom engraving projects include knife blades, glassware, insulated drinkware, brass plates, metal tags and plates, name tags, and small signage such as door signs and desk wedges, along with other personal or professional items.

Each project is planned with attention to the item, the purpose, and how it will be used. Layout, material choice, and finish are considered to help ensure the finished piece feels balanced and holds up over time.

Customer-Provided Pieces

Customers are welcome to bring items in or contact us for evaluation prior to engraving. Not all items are suitable for engraving, and acceptance is determined on a case-by-case basis. Materials and finishes are reviewed to help ensure a quality result and provide honest guidance on expected outcomes. We do not want our customers disappointed with the results.

If you’re looking for a special keepsake or aren’t sure which item will engrave best, we can often source well-made pieces that engrave cleanly and hold up over time, helping take the guesswork out of the process.
