Brown Dog Originals is a working engraving shop in North Waterboro, Maine. We specialize in custom engraving on plaques, glassware, keepsakes, and personalized gifts for individuals, businesses, municipalities, organizations, and wholesale retail partners.
The shop is owned and operated by Tammy Jo Girard, and all work is completed in-house using professional-grade equipment. In addition to custom projects, Brown Dog Originals features a growing line of original Maine-inspired artwork designed and adapted onto everyday wares including mugs, glassware, serving boards, and gift-ready pieces.
We carry samples of plaques and engravable items in the shop, along with product catalogs for pieces we regularly work with. A small selection of wares is available in the shop. Rather than an expansive display, the collection is intentionally thoughtful and gift-ready, and customers often find a special piece that feels just right.
From wedding glassware and milestone pieces to branded drinkware, everyday keepsakes, and engraving on customer-provided items, each project is thoughtfully completed right here in our North Waterboro shop.

Custom engraving is the heart of what we do.
We work one-on-one with customers to create pieces that are thoughtfully engraved, and fit naturally into everyday life or meaningful moments. Projects range from engravings on customer provided pieces to plaques, awards, and personalized gifts. Each job is handled in-house using professional-grade equipment, with care taken at every step from setup to finish.
Custom Gifts & Original Art
Brown Dog Originals designs custom gifts and original artwork for a collection of finished wares meant to be part of everyday life. From mugs and glassware to serving boards, home décor, and totes, our original art is rooted in our deep love for Maine and the New England region. A limited selection is available in our shop, with additional pieces offered by custom order, and at select fairs and festivals throughout the year. Wholesale options are available for boutiques and gift shops looking to carry work that feels local and thoughtfully made.
Wedding & Milestones
We work closely with our clients to create custom engraved pieces for weddings and other milestone celebrations like anniversaries and retirements. Common projects include custom engraving on glassware, keepsakes, favors, small signage, and personalized gifts designed to celebrate the day and the people at the heart of it. Each project is approached with care, focusing on meaningful details and a collaborative process that helps every piece feel personal, joyful, and true to the occasion.
